The Association of Phoneticians and Phonologists in Nigeria ( APPN) admits into its membership any of the following categories of academics and professionals:

 

  1. Lecturers, teachers, or trainers of the spoken language
  2. Researchers of the phonetic sciences or phonology
  3. Professionals that are into public speaking or elocution in media or broadcasting institutions
  4. Those in academic institutions that have clearly defined their areas of interest as phonology and Phonetics of any language, such as English, other Nigerian languages, including. Pidgin and French.
  5. Speech pathologists assisting the dyslexic, aphasic, stutterers etc.
  6. Artistes that are consistently  involved in public speaking or shows, exploring and exploiting sound or pronunciation in audience control
  7. Machine voice analysts (Robotics and AI speech data analysis).
